  2. Fascinating data. Sastre's 39.00 mins from 2006 fastest time we can believe in. His time when he won stage/Tour from 2008 is 30 seconds slower. Shows the true class of a guy who rode for Once & CSC where dopers were all around him, & seeing what happened to his brother in law . Froome's times from 2013/15 hardly the times of a doper. Are they ? I'd love to hear the comments of the French?

  4. I have always known that the record is 37:35 1997 pantani climb.i would like you explain that 3 first times because i think pantani's times are 37:37(1997),38:00 (1994) and 38:05 (1995)

    1. if your time of 36:40 is right and alpe d´huez has 13 km 8% , the VAM of Pantani climbing results in a huge 1850 value.
Is not that very much even for pantani? Normal times are not superior to 1600-1700 i have heard

    2. The times posted on the blog are correct, verified on multiple TV recordings. Pantani had even crazier performances in the Giro d'Italia. So you could say it wasn't very much for him. :)

    4. Thank you very much for your work, Mr Simion! :-)
I did my best in clocking the times also on TV recordings and come to the same results as you.
I don´t understand why most Wikipedia pages still list it like this:
      1) Pantani 1997 in 37,35 Minutes
      2) Armstrong 2004 in 37,36 Minutes
      3) Pantani 1994 in 38,00 Minutes
      4) Armstrong 2001 in 38,01 Minutes
      5) Pantani 1995 in 38,04 Minutes
      etc.
The only true result is Armstrong in 2004, 37,36 Minutes for 13,8 km. All other ones are wrong.
Just watching Pantani 94 and 95 you gonna see with your own eyes Marco rode faster in 95, but most Wiki pages take the list above with 94 being faster as 95, in reality 95 was the real record time.

      Again great work!

    5. Hey! Well, people don't like to dig for information, they just believe everything Wikipedia says. That's why I made this blog.
      Thanks for your words, cheers!

  5. i like your blog very much but i miss the mortirolo times, specially those of 1994 , in the most spectacular climb i have seen in giro italia
i think record is, as always, of pantani 43:53 but there is sites they say record is ivan gotti and pavel tonkov 1997 43:21( i really doubt about this later time). Thank you
